酒到这时，我们都感到有一些兴致了。和他相识真是三生有幸。这位朋友是经朋友的朋友介绍认识的，认识的时间不长，只知道他是搞研究的，研究什么我不太关心。但是，听了上边的阐释，可以肯定他对鬼进行过比较系统的研究，说知识广博都有点委屈他了。
我压不住自己的好奇心，问道：“那么，你认为一只鬼和一个强盗谁更可怕？”他仍然很有耐心：“当然是强盗可怕啦。”他清了清嗓子，呷了一小口酒：“你想啊，自古以来，打更的、搞治安的、居委会、公安局，有哪一个提醒人们防着鬼的，都说要防强盗。聊斋看过吧？那里边有哪一个鬼是可怕的.？这不就是最好的例证吗？”对这个问题我不敢苟同：“那不是那个年代的人比鬼坏，人们才觉得鬼好的吗？”他摇了一下筷子，表示对我的意见的否定：“作为学者，我们研究问题，就是要揭示问题的本质。怎样才能揭示问题的本质？那就是透过现象。你听说过哪一个地方的人被鬼吃掉了、被鬼害了？媒体上有过这样的报道吗？没有。话又说回来，有哪一天你没有听说某个地方的某人被人了?至少是伤了，有吗？透过这样的现象，不就揭示出强盗比鬼更可怕吗？”
天哪，我怎么到今天才明白这些道理，我以前都干什么去了。我不信上帝，但我要感谢造物主，他让我认识了一种什么样的现象啊！
