1。 叙述的人称
英语的记叙文一般是以第一或第三人称的角度来叙述的。用第一称表示的是由叙述者亲眼所见、亲耳所闻的经历。它的优点在于能把故事的情节通过“我”来传达给读者，使人到真实可信，如身临其境。如：
The other day， I was driving along the street。 Suddenly， a car lost its control and ran directly towards me fast。 I was so frightened that I quickly turned to the left side。 But it was too late。 The car hit my bike and I fell off it。
用第三人称叙述，优点在于叙述者不受“我”活动范围以内的人和事物的限制，而是通过作者与读者之外的第三者，直接把故事中的情节展现在读者面前，文章的客观性很强。如：
Little Tom was going to school with an umbrella， for it was raining hard。 On the way， he saw an old woman walking in the rain with nothing to cover。 Tom went up to the old woman and wanted to share the umbrella with her， but he was too short。 What could he do? Then he had a good idea。
2。 动词的时态
在记叙文中，记和叙都离不开动词。所以动词出现率最高，且富于变化。记叙文中用得最多的是动词的过去的'，这是英语记叙文区别于汉语记叙文的关键之处。英语写作的优美之处就在于这些动词时态的变化，正是这一点才使得所记、所叙有鲜活的动态感、鲜明的层次感和立体感。
3。 叙述的顺序
记叙一件事要有一定的顺序。无论是顺叙、倒叙、插叙还是补叙，都要让读者能弄清事情的来龙去脉。顺叙最容易操作，较容易给读者提供有关事情的空间和时间线索。但这种方法也容易使文章显得平铺直叙，读起来平淡乏味。倒叙、插叙、补叙等叙述方法能有效地提高文章的结构效果，让所叙之事跌宕起伏，使读者在阅读时思维产生较大的跳跃，从而为文章所吸引，深入其中。但这些方法如果使用不当，则容易弄巧成拙，使文章结构散乱，头绪不清，让读者不知所云。
4。 叙述的过渡
过渡在上下文中起着承上启下、融会贯通的作用。过渡往往用在地点转移或时间、事件转换以及由概括说明到具体叙述时。如：
In my summer holidays， I did a lot of things。 Apart form doing my homework， reading an English novel， watching TV and doing some housework， I went on a trip to Qingdao。 It is really a beautiful city。 There are many places of interest to see。 But what impressed me most was the sunrise。
The next morning I got up early。 I was very happy because it was a fine day。 By the time I got to the beach， the clouds on the horizon were turning red。 In a little while， a small part of the sun was gradually appearing。 The sun was very red， not shining。 It rose slowly。 At last it broke through the red clouds and jumped above the sea， just like a deep-red ball。 At the same time the clouds and the sea water became red and bright。
What a moving and unforgettable scene!
5。 叙述与对话
引用故事情节中主要人物的对话是记叙文提高表现力的一种好方法。适当地用直接引语代替间接的主观叙述，可以客观生动地反映人物的性格、品质和心理状态，使记叙生动、有趣，使文章内容更加充实、具体。试比较下面两段的叙述效果：
I was in the kitchen， and I was cooking something。 Suddenly I heard a loud noise from the front。 I thought maybe someone was knocking the door。 I asked who it was but I heard no reply。 After a while I saw my cat running across the parlor。 I realized it was the cat。 I felt released。
这本来应是一段故事性很强的文字，但经作者这么一写，就不那么吸引人了。原因是文中用的都是叙述模式，没有人物语言，把“悬念”给冲淡了。可作如下调整：
I was in the kitchen cooking something。 "Crash!" a loud noise came from the front。 Thinking someone was knocking at the door， I asked， "Who?" No reply。 After a while， I saw my cat running across the parlor。 "It＇s you。" I said， quite released。

很快，我们到了游乐区门口，“游乐区”三个大字横卧在眼前，跨进游乐区，笑声、喊声都在我耳朵里荡漾。我和哥哥商量好了要先玩“碰碰车”。于是，我们便去买了票。大约过了15分钟，我们上了“碰碰车”，在一个区域内碰来撞去，知道我们看到一个穿着蓝色衣服小男孩为止，因为，我们撞车锁定的目标就是他。
我们开始坐着车向他开来，一场恶战即将开始！我们撞了他一下，他也好不认输的撞了我们一下，还瞪了我们一下。我们在区域里和那个穿着蓝色衣服的人毫不认输的撞来撞去，直到5分钟过后。
玩完“碰碰车”，我们来到了“海盗船”，想玩玩这个几恐怖又可怕的东西。我们买了票上了“海盗船”。那里的叔叔以下按下开关，“海盗船”便运行了起来。起初它滑的并不高，可到最后——居然高到半空中了。我大声的喊着：“啊……啊……好可怕啊！”可是，“海盗船”似乎不理我，反而更快了，速度快到刚开始的1000倍！终于停止了，我想一只饿狼，摇摇晃晃的从“海盗船”上下来，来到一个墙角，把早上吃的东西全都吐了出来，哥哥在旁边笑着说：“你真虚弱啊！这么一点小伤害就吐成这样，真是……”
啊！我和哥哥在九龙公园还玩了不少项目，说也说不尽，等有机会我在跟你细细讲解。

九龙公园位于漳州市区最繁华的地段，四周都是主干街道，每天车水马龙，川流不息；公园外围高楼林立，各种商店、酒家、娱乐场所应有尽有，热闹非凡。九龙公园里面有山有水有桥，有花有草有树，是人们每天休闲娱乐的好去处。尤其是到了夜晚时候，这里就成了灯的世界、花的海洋、人们休闲的天堂。
下面，就让我带领大家一起享受它的美吧！
九龙公园有三个大门，分别是北门、南门和西门。当我们从北门进入的时候，映入眼帘的就是九龙公园的标志性建筑“九龙戏珠”——它是由形态各异的九条龙盘旋在一起嬉戏着一颗巨大的宝珠。由于它是位立在湖水的中央，夜晚在灯光和喷泉的衬托下，显得格外的耀眼。在“九龙戏珠”的前面有一块宽广的水泥地操场，这里每天晚上挤满人群，有的跳广场舞、有的舞剑、有的练太极，真是热闹极了。往右走靠湖边有一个凉亭，这里聚集着中老年音乐歌迷们，他们有的拉二胡、有的弹琴、有的敲锣打鼓，什么民族的、当地的、美声的、流行的音乐此起彼伏。往前走是一片运动健身场地，人们在这里活动筋骨、舒展身体，消除一天的疲劳。再往前就是我最想玩的“游乐世界”了，这里有许许多多的游乐项目：有海盗船、摩天轮、旋转木马、双人飞天、滑行龙、碰碰车、探险岛、水中冲浪、空中骑车等等，还有掷沙袋、套圈圈、射气球……门口还有许多卖玩具卖小吃的，真是让人流连忘返呀！
依依不舍的离开“游乐世界”后，我们来到了溜冰场，这里挤满着许多的年青人在溜冰，他们你追我赶，一个个在大显身手，不停的变换着溜冰花样。看完溜冰我们就来到了一片大草坪，这里大人们三五成群的坐在一起茶余饭后聊天、拉家常，分享一天的开心与不开心；小朋友们在草地上快乐的嬉戏、耍闹，无拘无束，尽情享受童年的美好时光。
再往前走就来到了“游船乐园”。这里有各种各样的游船，有二人座的、三人座的、五人甚至六人座的，可以满足不同的需求。人们坐在船上一边游玩，一边欣赏美丽的夜景；一会儿拍照，一会儿射击水球。
玩玩游船，我们需走过一座石拱桥，就来到了“休闲游乐中心”。这里人们有的在下棋打扑克，有的在泡茶聊天，有的在钓鱼赏鱼，室内有许多年青人在抢麦拼歌。
继续往前走又是一片湖水，这里有许多小朋友在玩“水上滚球”——一个大气球被空气充满浮在湖面上，小朋友们躲在大气球里尽情的翻滚、玩耍，好玩极了。
好了，再往前就回到了北大门了。这一路上，到处都充满着喜庆的氛围。放眼望去，到处灯光闪烁，金碧辉煌，道路两旁花草丛生，绿树成荫。真是美不胜收呀。
九龙公园我爱你，你是那样的美！
