是啊，纵观历史，和谐怎么不是社会的主旋律呢？汉代丝绸之路的开拓与繁荣，使原本遥远而陌生的国度之间有了广泛而深入的经贸科技交流，使人们对古代各国民俗文化有了新的认识与了解，促进了人类文明的发展进程，使整个社会和平繁荣。而与之带来的文化观念的碰撞，物产的交换也使人们的生活更加丰富和多元化。唐太宗，唐玄宗更是任用贤良、虚怀纳谏、广开言论、轻徭薄赋，使政治清明，经济繁荣，并且以开放的胸怀大开国门，与日本等国密切来往，使人们感受到他族文化的魅力，极大地促进了民族繁荣与民族和谐。
而到了现代，近年来我国不断加深的改革开放，不断深入的制度改革，也都是社会和谐进步的力证。其中，面对改革发展所带来的矛盾，党中央更是主动应对，通过宏观调控等政策，使社会经济平稳快速的发展，这正体现着和谐这一理念在新时期发展形式下的应用。
而从民俗来看，中国人民也是极其注重民俗文化的和谐的。新年彼此温暖的祝福，那热闹的隆隆炮竹声，喜洋洋的灯笼元宵等，无不表达着人们对于新年生活幸福美满的期待。同样地，中秋节、端午节等传统佳节，更是人们长久以来对于社会和谐的一种祝愿和热盼，展现了中华民族对于文化积淀的继承与重视。可以说长久以来，我们都以“和”为我们待人处事的.方式方法，“仁者爱人”、“以和为贵”等更是成为我们民族的千古名训。儒家的“礼、义、仁”，道家的对“美”、“道”的探究等，无不成为我们五千年来华夏文明厚厚的积淀。而这样厚重的文化积淀更是我们和谐社会所长久向往与推崇的。可以说，中华文化的基调，便是和谐这一永恒不变的旋律。
也许你会说当蒸汽机代替了手工作业，当电能、核能代替了煤炭石油时，不知道多少黑烟毒气排入了原本湛蓝的天空，不知多少农药灰尘在大地飞舞。而一次性餐具、电池等不可再生物也破坏了生态的和谐，破坏了整个人类赖以生存的家园的和谐，这些能和说和谐是时代的主旋律吗？
