静静的夜里，纳兰性德翻看着日历，哇！这么快一年就要结束了！时间过得可真快呀，皇上视察的日子马上就要到了，他得赶快准备好皇上出发的行李。果真，没过多久，皇上便带着大臣、侍卫、将士等三千多人一起向长城所在地——山海关视察去了。将士们翻山越岭，在穿过森林时遇到了一些猎物，便将猎物围用来填饱肚子。走水路的时候，很多将士们晕船，水上物资又稀少，不仅吃不饱、睡不好，还要防御水盗袭击。
终于，到达了山海关。因为关外是少数民族所在地，所以将士们要在这里时刻防止敌军入侵。夜深了，房屋外的雪已经有一尺多高。在这夜里，北风呼啸，大雪茫茫，许多不保暖的帐篷里都亮起了灯光，如同一个个点缀在大雪里的孤独的星星一样。战士们在帐篷里吃着已经被冻得像石头一样冷的馒头，外面天寒地冻，将士们的心也是一样寒冷，直达快要二更的时候，将士们才稍微眯了一下。
“沙沙沙——”外面的风雪也丝毫没有停止，反而这风雪声还更大了，如同一个东北虎在风雪中吼叫。这风雪的声音传到了一个将士的耳朵里，他猛地惊醒了过来，想再眯一会却怎么也睡不着了。他一抬头看见那个睡在自己旁边的士兵也起身了，只见这个小士兵用笔画着自己亲人的头像。他也回想了起来：正是在紫禁城的一个暖暖的春天，他与自己的孩子在绿油油的草地上放风筝，孩子欢乐地说：“父亲，看我放得多高啊！”……在房屋里，他漂亮、贤惠的妻子向他们招手，“快来吃饭啊！”坐在饭桌前，他一边吃着可口的饭菜，一边和妻子、孩子聊着天，多么好啊！“呼——呼——”北风打破了他美好的思绪，哎，什么时候，我才可以回家啊！
纳兰性德见到这一番情景，十分同情在这里驻守的战士们，于是触景生情提笔写下一首词：

This is as true of 0ur growing up, especially in an unprecedentedly stressful so- cietyr, Fortunately, tiger parenting has equipped me with exceptional study habits,thus helping me stand out in the intense competition.
