Although we can only keep in touch with each other by the telephone or the Internet, I wish I could let you know how much I love you and how much I’ve appreciated the things you’ve done for me. It is never too much to say thank you to you, my dear parents.
First and the most important is that thank you for bringing me to this world. During the 20 years, you have done a lot for me, but I haven’t realized how much I love you until I left home to the university. I understand how much effort you have cost to bring me up. Now, I have grown up, I can look after you.
Second, I want to thank you that you give me a good environment to grow up. There is an old saying “Parents are the first teacher to their children”. In my life, you are the typical ones. Because of your good examples I formed the good habit of learning at an early age which benefits my life.

领养毛毛那天，我与爷爷走在大街上，看见一个耍猴人在用鞭子抽打一只毛发杂乱的小猴子。小猴抬起上肢来挡，啪一声，又加一道淋淋的口子。顷刻，它哀嚎着扑向人群，又被绳索拉回。围观的人没解救它。它看上去很脏，五官毫不讨喜。
我和爷爷看了看便随人群散去，往家走。爷爷忽然收住脚步说：“要不，咱们把那只猴子买回家？太可怜了。”
自从奶奶去世后爷爷就特别孤独。所以在他固执买下小猴那一刻，我是有些理解的，爷爷太需要伴了。
爷爷自言自语：“这么毛手毛脚，就叫毛毛吧。”因为遍体鳞伤，毛毛暂时不能洗澡，爷爷把它安置在一个铁笼里。我妈很爱干净，因此很不待见它。爷爷把毛毛养在自己房间里，每天和毛毛聊天。每天清晨他带着毛毛到公园晨练打太极，毛毛学得有模有样，惹得众人大笑不止。爷爷变得越来越健谈。
毛毛在我们家地位的提升得益于一场比赛。那天我放学，拿出宣传单：“爷爷，社区元旦举行宠物才艺大赛，咱们让毛毛也表现一下吧。”比赛当天，爷爷和我精心为毛毛装扮了一番。穿着喜庆的'宠物唐装，毛毛站在一堆猫狗中间显得鹤立鸡群。它踩单车、转皮球，还会倒立行走，实在是为我们挣足了面子。然而事情的转变也来得特别突然。有个周末，我妈下厨宴请小姨一家三口。家里喧闹的人声，将毛毛的兴奋值拉至顶点。它双手抓着栏杆坐立不安。我把它牵了出来，让表弟开开眼界。表弟是出了名的熊孩子，他跑进厨房，拿出香蕉泥诱惑毛毛，又拿起玩具水枪朝它喷射。被淋湿的毛毛显得有些暴躁，见到食物又平息下来，抓起来大口享用。然而它很快表现出异样，张嘴吐舌头，表情无比痛苦。表弟嬉笑不止。毛毛盯着表弟，恍如被刺中要害，跳过去伸出爪子朝表弟抓去，他脸上很快出现一道痕。小姨气急败坏地拉起表弟去打疫苗。聚餐就这样不欢而散。我妈积压在心头的不满终于得以宣泄，抓起棍子朝毛毛狠狠地挥去……毛毛的眼里，竟然再次出现当街被鞭打时的无助感。我妈丢下“家里有它没我”的狠话出门了。
爷爷从外面回家，听我转述后他蹲下去，沉默着安抚毛毛，毛毛竖起的毛发才平顺下来。那天下午爷爷和毛毛轻声细语说了很多话，像在告别。当晚，爷爷向全家人宣布，要把毛毛送到市里的野生动物救助基地。这是一位老人最后的妥协。
送走毛毛那晚，爷爷前所未有地沉默，第二天爷爷告诉我，他发现毛毛碗里的香蕉泥掺杂了芥末酱。原来这才是毛毛抓狂的真正元凶。我想起那天毛毛挨打时痛苦的神情，感觉有些心酸。
每到周末，爷爷拉上我一起去探望毛毛。毛毛依然记得爷爷，每次爷爷出现毛毛会蹦得老高，张牙舞爪难掩兴奋。我举起手机给他们拍了许多合照。原本矍铄的老人在精壮的毛毛面前显得有些颓然。他佝偻着背，而毛毛竟伸出一只毛茸茸的爪子，搭着爷爷。
直到后来，爷爷病重去世。很长时间，我没有去看过毛毛。当我再见毛毛时，它盯着我好一阵，又翘首以盼地看着门外，那模样像在寻找爷爷的身影。我给毛毛香蕉，然后告诉它，爷爷再也不能来看你了。我以为一只猴子哪能懂得人类世界的是非恩怨，但在那一刻，我确定毛毛听懂了我的语言，并且眼里竟然有着隐约的泪水。
生命的流逝，本身残忍又无可奈何。而我知道，毛毛和爷爷不会就此相忘。

It’s a long time no contacting with you since last e-mail. And I miss you so much. Recently I luckily turn to the third officer working on board MV Blue Whale,which is a container ship. I intend to introduce you what Ido on this big vessel in this letter.
I am the third officer working in the deck department. As you know, the third officer is responsible to the master for the proper performance of his assigned bridge watchstanding and navigational duties.
On board, my first daily work is wathckeeping from 8 to 12 and from 20 to 24. my second daily work is in charge of the maintance of the fire-fighting equipment and life-saving equipment. The third , I am also responsible for fire and boat drills, I have to design a muster list and make crew to know the best escape route clearly. Additionally, there are also some simple things I have to do in daily work. For example, I have to assist the Chief Officer in supervising cargo handling operation 、to measure the draft at the discretion of the Chief Officer or the Master、to assist the Master on the bridge with anchoring and mooring and unmooring operation is underway and so on.
