冯立一直保持着这样一个习惯，每读完100本书，就要写一篇总结性的文章，从一个主题入手，或谈谈读书所得，或谈谈阅读技巧，最后还要为这100本书评选出一个前10名的最佳榜单。已是历史系博士二年级的他已经完成了第17个100本读书计划，仔细算一下，相当于一年读200多本书，平均三天读两本。这样的速度，恐怕绝大多数人都是望尘莫及的，更别提长期的坚持了。
在想象中，这样一个读书大神不仅是上知天文下知地理的，还有可能有些“呆气”。然而在咖啡馆见面时，他与所有普通的清华同学没有什么太大的区别。有些胖，笑眯眯的，若非要说有什么不同，大概是他身上有一种少见的自信，有点像老北京的侃爷，仿佛见惯一切随时都能说个不停。他几乎可以轻快流畅地回答所有抛出的问题，对人名非常敏感，对读书时间和数量有着精准的记忆，对陌生人的好奇也早有准备，唯独在提及女朋友的时候才从一个分享会的模式中走出来。“我和我女朋友就是在甘阳老师办的一个学术夏令营上认识的”，这是他第一次露出腼腆而放松的笑容，提醒着大家他只是一个普通的男生。
谈及读书的缘起，也似乎有些普通。只是觉得大学过了一年有些荒废，想看看能读多少书，冯立很轻松地说，没想到大四上学期就提前完成了三年读完300本书的目标，一读就停不下来了。

I spend a lot of time on the homework.. Every day in my Winter Holiday, I always got up late. Then I listened to the tape, it was nine o’clock. Then I ate breakfast and then I did my homework during the daytime! I’m not very slow but the homework was too heavy!
