读完《小时候就在想的事》之后，深有感触，发现越是小孩子，就越是拥有人类最珍贵、最必要的东西，即便是一个五六岁的孩子，他的行为也是有理由的，一个人成年以后的所思所想，所作所为都能找到童年时期的根源。
《小时候就在想的事》和《窗边的小豆豆》一样让人在笑声和感动中深深思考，现代应该如何理解和发掘出每一个孩子的完美天性，不要让小孩从小就生活在压力，和没有自由的状态中，让他一生都生活在灿烂的阳光中。
《小时候就在想的事》分为四部分，想起小时候，还在窗边的小豆豆，我爱着的人们，真正的幸福是什么。\"想起小时候\"是回忆了少年和青年时代的一些事情，然后接着对小豆豆时期进行了一些补充，\"我爱着的人们\"主要写写亲情，关于外祖父，妈妈哥哥等的回忆。
最后一部分，\"真正的幸福是什么\"，写的不是幸福生活，恰恰相反，记录了她担任联合国儿童亲善大使所见到的种种不幸的生活——科索沃的老师教天真的学生辨识伪装成易拉罐饮料的地雷，50厘米长的坟墓埋葬了夭折的婴儿，难民营里的小姑娘问作者有没有带巧克力，卢旺达大屠幸存下来的孤儿为父母感到自责，还有海地那个12岁的小姑娘在贱价出卖自己，以换的家人明天得食物……真正的幸福是什么，见过了那么多悲剧；幸福就是能够和家人在一起相视而笑的.家庭。
如果说《窗边的小豆豆》站在孩子的立场上，尽力与成年人进行沟通，那么《小时候就在想的事》就是站在大大的立场上，努力的理解孩子，我觉得它是值得阅读的，他不是简单的教化，而是在传递着一种价值观，人与人能够沟通的前提，是有共同的价值观，或者至少能够理解对方的价值观。
