富豪刘轩的地产计划涉及填海工程，威胁靠海为生的居民。因为人类对大海及生态的破坏，美人鱼只能被赶到了一艘破船里艰难生存，背负家族秘密的珊珊被派遣前往阻止填海计划。刘轩是一个靠自己努力才取得成就的人，虽然表面有钱但实则空虚寂寞的他和美人鱼珊珊在交手过程中互生情愫。刘轩最终因为爱上珊珊而停止填海工作，但珊珊却因意外受伤而消失于大海。
2、美人鱼--人鱼生物。传说美人鱼是以腰部为界，上半身是美丽的女人，下半身是披着鳞片的漂亮的鱼尾，整个躯体，既富有诱惑力，又便于迅速逃遁。她们没有灵魂，像海水一样无情;声音通常像其外表一样，具有欺骗性;一身兼有诱惑、虚荣、美丽、残忍和绝望的爱情等多种特性。有电影、动画片、歌曲等以此为名。一般认为美人鱼的生物原型是儒艮或海牛。

3、雾霾是过去一年中国社会最沉重的环境公害。PM2.5是形成雾霾的"罪魁祸首"，其来源有汽车尾气、道路扬尘和建筑扬尘、工厂超标排放、燃煤取暖烟尘、秸秆燃烧烟尘等。雾霾导致肺癌患病率在个别城市呈上升趋势，严重影响所有社会公民的身体健康。
雾霾天气的出现，让我们在国家和个体两个层面同时面对一些我们没有认真思考过的老问题。在国家层面上，它催生了环境犯罪司法解释的诞生，对环境犯罪零容忍成了我们社会的共识;在个人层面上，它让我们明白，以追逐个人利益而损害环境的行为是不道德的，也是法理不容的，破坏环境的结果是搬起石头砸自己脚的愚蠢行为，因为当环境恶化后，破坏者也要做受害者，它让人们更加明确了个人和社会、和自然的休戚与共的关系，从而正确处理个人与社会、与自然的关系。
