穿戴可以表现人物的特点，可作者只写了小女孩“光着头赤着脚”，上身穿的什么，下身穿的什么都没写。这是不是写得少了呢？不，一点儿也不少，而且是恰到好处。因为在大雪飞舞的除夕夜，空中是雪，地面是雪，而小女孩上无遮挡，下无裹足，再没有比这使人感到更寒冷的了。这里的“光着头赤着脚”就最具表现力。可见作者用笔的准确、经济、典型。
外貌可以表现人物的特点。可作者只写了“雪花落在她的金黄的长头发上，那头发打成卷儿披在肩上，看上去很美丽”这么一句话，至于眼睛像什么，眉毛像什么，嘴巴像什么，统统没写。这是为什么呢？因为头发有色有形，最能和雪花映衬在一起，这样就巧妙地使美丽的外表与冷酷的现实形成了鲜明的对比，使人觉得这个社会不协调，不合理。而其他外貌都没有头发与雪相结合的机缘好。可见，作者在选择外貌描写时，也是极精当的。
居住条件也能反映人物的特点。可作者也只写了一句：“他们头上只有个房顶，虽然最大的裂缝已经用草和破布堵住了，风还是可以灌进来。”这是一句高度概括的话，由这句话你就可以想像那整座房子的样子了。而且，这句话有很多潜台词：用草和破布堵住了，为什么不用木板呢？——显然是没有；堵个裂缝还得又用布又用草？——显然东西不足；虽然堵住了，风还可以灌进来。——显然是堵而不严，仍可能是东西不足；最大的裂缝已经堵住了，那小些的裂缝呢？——显然是没有堵。你看，作者的这句话表面看来漫不经心，无足轻重，稍作分析，就可发现是多么精彩！
事实最能说明人物的特点。作者就选用了有关火炉、烤鹅和奶奶的事，来分别说明小女孩寒冷、饥饿和孤独，令人对她充满了同情之心。
通过以上分析，你大体上能够悟到一些写人的途径了吧。

My room is very simple but warm. My room’s color is white. At first, I think it is too drap, but now think it is comfortable for not too much color. There is a small bed, a desk, a bookshelf and a wardrobe in the room. It is very simple, right? But on the bed there are a lot of lovely dolls on my bed. My room is small, but comfortable and clean.
