辉仔想起了和玲相识的点滴。辉仔在东莞打工，一直不踏实，老想着能发大财，今天在电器厂，明天就到服装厂，每次换厂，不是埋怨原单位伙食不好，就是埋怨管理不人性化。一项工作从来没有踏踏实实干上三个月的。在东莞手脚又大，喜欢去些不三不四的地方，一年到头也没存着什么钱。在一家美发店，他认识了玲，玲也是不安现状，喜欢在外面玩，就这样，两人一来二合，竟然玩到了一起了，爱情初期的甜蜜和激情倒也冲淡了一些由于生活窘迫所带来的不快。这才几个月，辉仔想着看能不能将玲带回去结婚，肯定倍儿有面子，没想到玲竟然爽快的答应了，原因是，玲说自己怀孕了。玲说老家是贵州的.，也是很多年没回家了，想结完婚后和辉仔一起回贵州一趟。辉仔想自己也一直没见过玲的父母，就答应了。一次，辉仔说：“我们抽时间去把结婚证办了吧？”玲说：“要等个好日子，2014年9月9日办。”辉仔说：“为什么要那一天呀？”玲说：“这代表爱你一世，长长久久。”经玲这么一说，辉仔是个愣头青，一想也对，领结婚证时大事情，当然得慎重一点，那就依玲的意思办吧!
到了腊月二十七，辉仔将玲带到镇上的一家最好的宾馆，住了下来，又安排三舅娘当女方的亲属，晚上也在酒店住。将租来的婚纱放好，和化妆师联系好后，辉仔就急匆匆赶回家了。家里，一切已经布置妥当，灯笼，大红喜字，对联，鞭炮，礼花。厨师请的是隔壁村的马大厨，这马大厨专门做各种红白喜事和村宴，自带各种工具和桌椅板凳，在细二伯亲戚的帮助下，各类什物都在村部摆放妥当了。
腊月二十八清晨五点，各种起伏的鞭炮和礼花就打破了村庄的宁静，村庄里的鸡狗被惊得狂鸣狂吠。辉仔穿着租来的西装，手捧鲜花，登上了车队中的头车，一路浩浩荡荡的开向镇区，到了玲住的宾馆下，随车来的亲戚朋友搬出礼花鞭炮，又是一顿乱炸，搅得一向宁静的小镇也是鸡犬不宁。玲在三舅娘的搀扶下，身着洁白的婚纱，缓步下楼，登上了头车，和辉仔一起，往村里赶。
车队进村时，已经天亮了，村里人也陆陆续续赶了过来，来到村头入口处，看这农村罕见的场面盛大的迎亲仪式。细二伯指挥人在村头入口处的小土坡上，摆满了各类礼花，一个放完，赶紧点燃下一个，确保礼花不断响。细二嫂招呼女眷们端茶倒水，给村里乡亲们递糖递茶，一边张罗着，一边听见村里人对这盛大的婚礼现场啧啧称赞，心中早已是乐开了花。
那日和细二嫂吵架的李响头，也站在村口张望着，看着辉仔的婚礼也能用六辆花车送亲，想想那辉仔平日里游手好闲，不务正业，再想想自己的丫头凤伢，读到大学毕业，去年结婚的时候，也不过如此的排场。想到这里，心里很不是滋味。
突然，人群中一声惨叫，接着一群动。细二伯一看，原来是土坡上的一个礼花没有放稳，因为发射时产生震动而到了，礼花直直的朝人群射了过去，人们四散跑开。正在礼花旁边的三伯父一看，急忙用脚一踢，那礼花迅速转向，又直挺挺的朝着刚要进村的车队打了过去，“砰砰”，连续几发都打中了车队，幸好这盒礼花只剩几发了，打完就没了。三伯父一直等到车队全部进村了，再将没放完的礼花逐个进行检查，每个还捡了几块石头倚着，这才重新开始燃放起来。
细二伯赶紧迎上去查看，幸好人们散开及时，没有人受伤。车队在家门口停下，辉仔先下了车，到后座抱起玲准备走，那头车的司机下车来，一把拽住辉仔的西服袖子，说：“别走，赶紧再给一千块钱。”
辉仔急了：“租车的钱不是早就给了么？怎么还要一千块钱?”
那司机说：“你还要说，你看，刚才的礼花将我的车子炸了几个坑，我这维修起来还不知道你一千块钱够不够呢？今天想着你结婚，一千块钱算了，不然，今天你这婚结不成。”
辉仔无助的看着细二伯，又看看细二嫂。幸好村民还没有大量围上来，因为礼花的响声还在，刚才司机的话，大概也只有辉仔和在旁边的细二伯细二嫂听见。
细二嫂本来想发火，和司机吵一架，但一想这样太丢面子了，等于在全村面前出丑，就赶紧进屋拿了一千块钱，塞给司机手上，边塞还边大声喊：“几位司机师傅，大家辛苦了，这是一点红包钱，你们一会儿去分了。”那头车司机拿了钱，钻进车里，头也不回的将车开走了。村民们看见细二嫂不但提前结了租车的钱，现在又拿出一千块钱来打发司机们，不禁更加啧啧称赞起来。
