《夏目友人帐》主要讲述了男主人公夏目贵志拥有可以看到妖怪的特殊能力。因为父母双亡他的性格较为孤僻，并且由于他具有特殊的能力，他常辗转在于亲戚之间并被同龄人欺负。虽然他经历了许多不幸，但他依旧有好善良没有埋怨任何人。最终他被有好善良的藤原夫妇收养并进入高中。有一天，他被妖怪追赶躲进神社，不小心打破了一只强大妖怪斑的封印。并牵涉到了他祖母夏目玲子的'遗物—一本同妖怪签订的契约书。之后，这只强大的妖怪平时便变成猫的样子待在夏目身边保护他，但是他的条件是夏目后要把这本契约书给它。但在此之前夏目决定尽其所能把契约书上的名字还给妖怪们让它们得到自由。由此，一个个温馨、感人、惊险的故事就此展开。

??战中成长记叙文青涩的岁月常常是人一生中最缅怀的岁月，未必都是绿树浓荫，远山苍翠的金粉记忆，也许是一次努力后的喜悦，也许是一次失意后的收货，或亦是一次挑战中的成长。
教室中，气氛分外得尴尬，所有人都将头深深地埋进桌子，似乎是想将自己埋进尘埃中。老师正以严峻的目光扫视着我们，好生犀利。不错的'，正是因为运动会，班级里进入了一些低迷状态，轻松简单的项目早已人满为患，一抢而空。只剩下一些无人光顾的项目。你1000米，你400米老师正站在讲台上，挨个挨个地分配任务，而我却听得心惊胆战，依稀能听到我急促的心跳声，像只麋鹿似得到处乱撞。
老师走到我的身边，看了一下报名表，思忖了一会。那一刻，一种不可名状的进账喷涌而出。你就乒乓球吧！啊，可老师我熟悉啊，我惊讶地张大了嘴，都足以塞下一个鸡蛋了。的确，从小学到现在我都对乒乓球毫无兴趣可言，那乒乓球的次数也屈指可数。所以说一定要多加练习。老师推了推眼镜，竟不以为然地走了，只剩下我独自黯然神伤。
接下来的两天，便是疯狂的练习阶段。早晨，当睡眼还未完全睁开，十分朦胧的时候，像是条件反射似得在脑海里便弹出——乒乓球。一股脑便爬起来，迅速地洗漱完毕。
我站在一堵白墙面前，手中无力地拿着乒乓球拍，简直哭笑不得——显然不知该如何下手。管他呢，走一步看一步吧，我将乒乓球直接往墙上一掷，但没想到那球弹力极大，一个反弹，便直接朝我的脑门奔来，那气势简直锐不可当，无人能及，还未来得及躲闪，便吃了一记脑蹦儿。我只好再次捡球，再次往墙上掷去，可是这次又因为力气太轻，球只得滚回脚边。
一次又一次，那个力度却未能保持好，也许这就是乒乓球的难处所在，干脆我放下球拍，直接练习接球的训练。我不断地告诉自己：不积跬步无以至千里，从基础先试试。于是，我便从这最基础的步骤开始练习，经过几十次的失败，我才隐隐约约地掌握力度地大小——而当我稳稳地接过经过几次旋转而又抛下一条优美地弧线时，我都按倷不住自己澎湃的情趣因为我知道我已迈出了一大步。
接着，便是配合着球拍，这需要的不仅仅是快，准，更需要的是一份注意力。当你的注意力稳稳地放在球拍上时，你才能发出一道漂亮的弧线。然而要做到这点，对我来说要比登天般难，刚刚花了那么多的时间，才勉勉强强得接上几个球，但乒乓球拍配合起来，明显便乱了分寸。我开始焦急与迷惘——下个星期就要比赛了，可我这技术还是弱爆了——昏暗的黄昏，拉长了我的身影，那么孤独，我望着背影兀自地发呆，惆怅。飞鸟悄悄舞过，不留一点痕迹，短促的几声蝉鸣划破了寂静。静默了一会儿，站在十字路口上的我，经过一番心理斗争，终于选定方向，我拿起球拍，心中多了个信念成长需要挑战更何况你应该为集体而战。
发球，捡球，发球，捡球我不免想起一句话成功就是一个不断付出的过程即使你失败了99次，也要第100次得站起来，当我能够连续发上5个球时，一道希望的曙光赫然出现在我面前，定眼一看，前方的那轮太阳正徐徐升起。
赛场上，我不断地告诉自己人生需要挑战虽然心里很紧张，但为了自己的梦想也值得奋勇一战。最终我获得了女子组的第三名，那一刻，喜悦瞬间在我全身荡漾开来。
路上，我们会遇倾盆大雨，泥泞寸步难行，丛生的荆棘也许会划破双手——一次次挑战等待着我们，学会奔跑，终将收获那最美的太阳！
