自从小男孩走后，高尔基一直期盼着小男孩的到来。
一个阳光明媚的早晨，高尔基正在看报纸。突然，一个小纸团飞到了桌子上。高尔基怀着激动的心情迫不及待地打开小纸团，纸团上面写着：亲爱的高尔基同志！很抱歉，上次浪费了您宝贵的时间，这次我特意向您道歉。高尔基欣喜地拿着看完的纸团，快步走向窗边，他看见那个小男孩坐在花坛上，有点坐立不安的样子。高尔基大声喊到：“孩子，我等了你很久了，你快进来吧！”于是小男孩快步走进高尔基先生的房间，他再次仔细地打量着高尔基。之后，小男孩对高尔基说：“亲爱的高尔基先生，请您坐在沙发上看报纸。”高尔基按照小男孩的吩咐坐在沙发上专心致志地看报纸。小男孩拿起早已准备好的照相机开始给高尔基拍照，只听见“咔嚓”“咔嚓”的声响，一会儿就照好了。高尔基和蔼地说：“不如我们照张合影留作纪念吧！”小男孩连连点头，拍手叫好。于是高尔基叫来秘书帮她们照了一张合影。小男孩连蹦带跳地离开了。
过来不久，小男孩把高尔基的照片贴在了他们班的墙报上，同学们佩服不已，向小男孩竖起了大拇指。
