长城位于北京城的西北方向，它全长一万三千多里，又称万里长城。它以历史悠久、气势雄伟壮丽为中外游客向往的“旅游胜地”。
万里长城东起山海关西到嘉峪关，全长一万三千多里。站在山脚下，仰望长城好像一位巨人横卧在高大的山体上。古老的城墙，都是用巨大的石板砌成的，大约一米多高，顶上呈“凹”字形，上面长满了厚厚的青苔。沿石级而上，道路狭窄而陡峭，游客们只有手扶两边的铁链一步步艰难地往上爬，怪不得人们称“爬长城”。大约二十分钟，才可以爬上一号烽火台。高大的烽火台宛如一座长方形的小城堡，防守严密。烽火台是古代打仗前传递信息的设施，在上面可以点火发送消息。
站在高高的烽火台上，远眺四周，蓝天下，白云间，长城像一条巨龙蜿蜒在崇山峻岭之上，一眼也望不到尽头。四周的小山像一个个蒙古包，相互簇拥着。漫山遍野，绿树成荫，如大海中起伏的波浪向远方延伸。
回首遥望，山脚下，停车场的小汽车如同一只只小甲壳虫，在列队阅兵。游客们像一只只小蚂蚁排着队伍向上爬。再往上走，石级越来越陡，路越来越难走，一路上每隔三到五公里就会有一座烽火台，一般人也就能爬到好汉坡，就再也爬不上去了。
长城真雄伟啊，它是我们中华民族的骄傲！

今天，我们游览北京的八达岭长城。俗话说得好：“不到长城非好汉。”今天我就要去做个真正的好汉。
今天虽然天气不好，可是来游览的人却特别的多。我们在入口处一阵焦急的等待之后，终于开始登长城了。
以前只是在课本和电视画面中看到长城的雄伟壮丽，现在亲眼目睹，我突然感觉自己全身的液都沸腾起来。之前只听说过长城的长，确实如此，放眼望去，连绵起伏的山头总有长城的身影，前不见头后不见尾，顺着山脊一直延伸到天边。
在长城入口处不远，通道两边各有一个宽大的平台，平台上摆放着几门威武的火炮，锈迹斑斑的炮筒足以见证它沧桑的历史。
我随着拥挤的人流登上长城。脚踏着被磨得光滑的城砖，手扶着凹凸不平的条石，我放眼四望，心旷神怡。长城像一条蜿蜒的巨龙卧在连绵起伏的崇山峻岭上。长城两侧一片翠绿，树木郁郁葱葱，早已不见了往日的苍凉和荒漠。长城上游人来来往往，川流不息，像是给长城穿上了一件迷人的彩衣。
正当我们要爬上“好汉坡”时，天暗下来了，刮起了大风，一会儿就下起了大雨。我们马上往回走。
在回来的路上，我让爸爸在毛泽东题词的“不到长城非好汉”碑前冒雨拍了一张留念照，算是给我今天当上了好汉的见证。
