读史过程中，突然想起“书上得来终觉浅，绝知此事要躬行”的警语来。比如文中读到“从画像砖看汉代社会”、“西湖与南宋”、“蒙古人的插曲”等篇章时，因为曾经游历身临其境，亲见过、触摸过、聆听过、体味过，感觉就较其他更真实而亲切，旧景、人物、故事都可以对上号，再回味历史品读作者点评时，条理更清晰，印象更深刻，或是丰富或是印证或是异议，更易得到共鸣或形成辨识，甚至生出更多遥想和猜度……因此，窃以为读史学史可分四个阶段：初为史实识志阶段，其后博览深入阶段，再者游历丰富阶段，最后致用开创阶段。

很久没有耐下性子阅读以史实为依据，并加以专业评判的历史读物了，相较一些历史小说、野史传奇，本书读起来有些艰涩，翻翻停停好多回。一遍读下来，除了对中国大历史进行史实梳理和印象加深外，关于作者的一些新角度观点或综合考量评价虽然让人新奇，作为读者的体悟不足、尚处于一知半解，这或许跟标新立异野史印象已先入为主有关，也间或鄙人有关政治、经济、文化、社会等知识积累不足或综合视野狭窄的因素。

如此，倒也促成另一番感悟。史实虽已既定、不可逆转，但随着研读之人知识拓展、视野拓宽、阅历丰富、境遇变化等，是可以常读常新的。于是乎，读史，知识是奠基，尊重客观是基础。观史者，可随个人喜好憎恶品读一段历史，逐渐深入一段体悟，在苍茫天地间、滚滚史轮下寻找共鸣与抚慰。而研史者，礼学心诚，治学严谨，理当作客观解读、综合评判、正确指引，有根有据，有礼有节，有的放矢。
