年轻人毫不犹豫地拿起了那个最大的苹果吃了起来。
而成功者却挑了一个最小的苹果。年轻人还在美滋滋地吃那个大苹果时，成功者已经吃完了那个最小的苹果。紧接着，成功者又得意地拿起剩下的那个苹果，大口吃了起来。
其实成功者的两个苹果加起来要比年轻人挑选的那个最大的苹果大得多，也就是说，如果每个苹果代表一定程度的利益，那么成功者赢得的利益却比年轻人多得多。
年轻人终于明白成功者之所以能够成功的奥秘。
他红着脸非常感激地对成功者说：“谢谢您给我上了一堂非常有意义的哲理课。我终于知道自己屡次失败的原因了，其实我真正欠缺的就是对于眼前的利益不懂得合理取舍。”

故事的有益启示：抓安全要防患于未然。
前者与后者的涵义有本质的不同，看似两者都在讲安全，但前者仅仅是提醒大家注意安全，未进入安全的本质，而后者却是完全排除了潜在的危险，体现了本质安全。
