Dan Sperber和Deirdre Wilson的关联理论是在H。P。Grice的交际理论与会话含意理论的基础上发展起来的，他们合着的《关联性：交际与认知》一书中对其有很精辟的阐述。关联理论作为认知语言学一个理论给西方语用学界带来了极大影响。它将关注的核心投到人类交际与话语理解方面，其影响力已超出了语用学领域，延伸到翻译领域。因为自然语言中的每个话语都可以有多种理解，要正确的理解自然语言，就必须通过语境来寻找信息的关联，然后根据话语和语境的关联进行推理。而翻译中为达到语用等效，其前提正是正确地理解自然语言。因此，关联理论就成为可以指导翻译的语用翻译理论。

小伙子一直站在我身边，我听见他在低声咳嗽。过了好几站，他才下车，借着路灯，我看见他进了武警医院。这时，老爷爷说：“这小伙子可能是有病了，可他把座位却让给了我们。真是个好人啊！”
我听了心里酸酸的，很惭愧，我是一个少先队员，为什么就没有给老人让座啊？下车后，我把这件事对妈妈说了，妈妈也赞扬了那个小伙子，说我应该学习尊老爱幼、助人为乐的.好品德。
那天夜里，我想起了爸爸说过的古人的话：勿以恶小而为之，勿以善小而不为。意思是说不要因为坏事小就做，也不要因为好事小就不做。让座的事情虽然很小，可也能反映一个人的品德修养啊！今后，我要向那位大哥哥学习，从小事做起，从现在做起，多做好人好事。

然而没过多久，他发现一只老虎总是蹲在不远的山崖上朝他的住所张望，因此他的生活像平静的湖面落下了一块大石头那样，顿时起了波澜。若石全家因为老虎的出现而人心惶惶、坐立不安。作为应急的措施，他一面带领全家老小日夜监视老虎的动向;一面用日出鸣锣、日落燃火和夜间摇铃的方法驱赶老虎。为了增强防范能力，减少精力消耗，若石一家把篱笆改成高高的土墙;在墙的四周树起一道用荆棘筑成的屏障;在山谷里挖掘了可供防守用的洞穴。这些周全的举措、巩固的设施使老虎望而却步。
整整一年过去了，老虎没有从若石家里得到任何好处。一天，若石听山里人说发现了一只老虎。他跑去一看，认出它就是经常出没在自己住宅周围的那只虎，所以非常高兴。若石以为威胁自己的那只虎了，等于根除了心腹大患。于是，他放松了对野兽的监视;撤除了打虎的装备。家里的院墙损坏了也不去修复;荆棘围成的篱笆破烂了也不去整补。他每天过着高枕无忧的生活。没过多久，一只貙(chu在追逐麋鹿的时候从若石的屋后经过。
它听见若石家里有牛、羊、猪的叫声就止了步。这只貙闯进院子，躲在若石的屋角边窥视了一会儿，见四周没有人，于是跑进牲畜棚里乱咬乱抓起来。若石闻讯后赶去观察，发现一个像山猫的家伙正在咬吃一只山羊。他不知道那就是性情凶猛的貙，所以用大声的喝斥去赶它。可是貙并不害怕，它仍然咬着羊不放。若石见这个家伙不肯走，拾起一块石头向它砸去。谁知那只貙突然丢开了羊，转过身先举起两只前腿像人一样直立起来，接着猛然扑向若石，用利爪把他抓了。一些有学问的君子议论说：“若石只知其一而不知其二，自然会落到这种下场。”
