不少人都看到过象，都说象是很大的动物，是不假，象的确是陆地上最大的动物。目前已知最大的象净重达十三点五吨，相当于九辆汽车那么重，最小的也有三吨左右。我国发现过一头四点二吨重的象，大约五米长，一只脚就有几头大肥猪那么重。它要是站着不动，在它的四条腿之间，就算举起手来也摸不到它的腹部，四个人围着桌子在它的四条腿中间看书，还显得十分宽敞。
象的祖先是始祖象，它并没有长鼻子，也没有长长的象牙，看上去像是一头肥猪似的;下一代是恐象，它的下颌骨有一对向下弯曲的长长的象牙;再下一代便是传到了今天的`大象。它们的鼻灵活得如同一条灵蛇似的，两只象牙就如同两只银光闪闪的匕首似的。腿粗得如同四根大柱子，两只耳朵十分巨大，像两把咖啡色的大蒲扇似的，那条尾巴细细的，甩起来和鞭子似的，响得很。
象的种类很多，总的来说可以分成两大类，一类是亚洲象，鼻子较短，一类是非洲象，鼻子较长。
象的身子这么大，它们吃什么呢?大象平时吃的食物是象草，一天可以吃十几斤。它们找到象草后，便伸出长鼻子，卷起了一把象草，不费劲地拔下来，张开大嘴，用鼻子把象草塞进嘴里，嚼起来。大象也喜欢吃西瓜，成年象与小象吃法完全不同。成年象吃西瓜时，往往都是把西瓜卷起，咬碎后再吃。小象则是用沉重的脚“咚”的一声把西瓜踩碎，再从地面上一片一片地捡起来吃。
象睡觉地姿势十分有趣，非洲象是站着睡觉的，睡时靠在树干上。并把长鼻子弯曲，鼻端卷进嘴里，轻轻含着，这样是为了不让小虫子和蚂蚁爬进来。亚洲象是把腿伸开侧着睡的，如果它和非洲象一样是站着睡的，就说明这只象生病了。大象一天睡眠不能超过两到三个小时，但能坚持两天不睡觉。所以象是世界上睡眠时间最短的动物。
象是胎生的，小象靠吃母象的奶长大，所以象是哺乳动物。非洲象孕期有二十二个月，是世界上孕期最长的动物。隔四到九年生一只，双胞胎的可能性非常的小，刚出生时有一百多斤重，会同母象一起生活八到十年。一般的象可以活八十到一百岁。

上次，在泰国曼谷旅游骑大象很有意思，所以我这次清迈自游行也安排了骑大象。这次骑大象跟上次不一样。上次我们是坐在大象背上的靠椅上的，而这次是直接骑在大象的背上，并且要骑一个小时，真令人期待啊!
在去骑大象的路上，我激动万分，心里想：这次骑大象会不会有什么有趣的事发生呢?
大象营地到了!我一下车就见着大象，只见大象在一个又高又大的木栅里，那些大象的鼻子像滑梯，身子像一堵墙。不过我觉得那些大象比上次在曼谷骑的那头象还要高大些。
我和妈妈爬上一个高台，一开始我不敢骑上大象，因为怕上去时掉下来，后来妈妈用手扶了我一把才骑上了大象的背上。
上路了，驯象师叫着号子，大象听着号子乖巧地向前走去。我们把相机交给了驯象师，让他帮我们拍照。每当我们拍照时大象就停下来面对相机摆出各种姿势，我觉得它是习惯了被人照相的缘故吧，所以才那么配合。来到河边大象迟迟不肯下水，驯象师叫了好久它才下迈开步子走下了水。到了水里，它不好好走，只在水里踏着脚，把水花溅飞了起来，把我们的衣服都快弄湿了。于是我们也与象一起玩耍了起来。在水里玩了一会，象上岸了，这时，它又被水草迷住了，竟然大口大口地吃起水草来。后来，象在一片草地上突然飞奔起来，突然又停了下来，全然不顾它背上的人，把我吓得半，我紧紧抓住手绳，大气都不敢喘一下。这只大象真调皮!
一个小时很快过去了，我依依不舍地下了大象，恍如和大象成了朋友。骑大象真有意思，因大象让我喜欢这个“万象之国”。
