4.倒装句
Only when we fully recognize its importance can we have control of its essence.
比较：After we fully recognize its importance, we can have control of its essence.
No sooner had he arrived home than it began to rain.
比较：He arrived home. And it began to rain.
5.失衡句
whether or not he will come is still unknown to all the people present.
比较：No one present knows whether he will come or not.
That he has done it all by himself is known to everyone.
比较：Everyone knows that he has done it all by himself.
当然，句子并不是越长越好，也不是越复杂水平就越高。凡事皆有度。太多长句的堆砌让人觉得是买弄。有时侯，一个短小精辟的句子可以起到画龙点睛的作用。特别是在文末段尾。比如：

I surely disagree with father ’s philosophy. As a leader, he shouldn ’t use his power to make money. It is his duty to serve people wholeheartedly, just one person said “with great power comes great responsibility ”. If he stick to his philosophy. I believe that he will spend the rest of his life in prison. 一部份人应该会选择让火车改道，开过那条废弃的铁轨，为了救更多的孩子，只好让一个小孩牺牲。正所谓的“牺牲小我，完成大我”的精神，而且在出于道德和情感，也应该那样做，还不错，一个自我牺牲主义的人。
但是，在对于那个在废弃的铁轨上玩耍的小孩来说，是多么悲惨的命运！只是自己隋便地在一个地方玩，却把自己的生命给玩完了！
于是，便有一些“反动派”为了同情那个在废弃轨道上的孩子，作出了让所有人都无法接受的.选择，让那群孩子的生命换来那个孩子的生命。事实作证，这是不可行的。
这时，又有一些比较聪明的人说，他们会想办法让火车停下来。这个方法看上去还不错，但是，紧跟着又有一大串问题蹦出来了。在这种紧急的情况下，有什么直接又干脆的方法可以让火车停下来呢？即使停下来了，你又一定要跟火车司机说明情况，还要做其它一些小问题的调整，那就会浪费一段时间，如果这列火车的来回时间出了差错，那又会造成多少人的不便呀！所以，这个方法也不是完全行得通的。
就在我们看似全面地分析这道题时，许多人矛盾了。而且，在这当中，我们忽略了一个小问题，那就是——那个在废弃轨道上玩耍的孩子的决定是正确的。也就是说，那个孩子认为，在废弃的轨道上玩耍，火车是不会使过来的。他选择了一个安全的地方玩耍。
然而，这两种处境每天都在我们身边发生，少数人往往要为多数人的利益作出牺牲，即使多数人是错的。
但是，公众的利益应该以怎样的原则去维护？是保护错误的大多数？还是站在正确的少数人一方？这是一个让理智和感情相互交织，相互斗争的难题。而解决这个难题的最好方法就是遵从规则，这不但维护了公众利益，更重要的是，它可以避免人们今后的错误。
