虽然我后来离开黄河系统，但对黄河治理仍一如既往地关心。因为我是黄河的子孙，我的老家就在黄河岸边，我的祖父是新中国第一代黄河修防段长。这些年来，小浪底工程立项、设计、施工、竣工的每一个进展都让我欣喜，很羡慕那些参加过小浪底工程施工的老同事。当然，我能在小浪底建成运行十年后深情造访，依然是一件幸事。
驶过几十公里高底起伏的路，终于登上观景高台。倚台而望，见两岸青山连阵，一坝纵贯南北，高峡出平湖，碧水荡轻舟，一派壮阔而秀美的景色。在这里久久地望着、品着、记着，向当地人寻问着，与同游人讨论着，恨不得顷刻间了解这一伟大工程的所有环节。后来干脆不顾岩高堤陡，开车下行之大坝之前，近观一番。只可惜没赶上调水调沙的时间，没能看到开闸泄洪时河水以雷霆万钧之势喷射而出的壮观，只能闭目想象一下那千道银瀑冲天、亿条黄龙狂舞的激越场面。
