these young people are wrong. in my opinion every student should have a knowledge of housework. after all, they will have a family of their own, and they should do their part in keeping a good home. boys should also learn to do housework, for what will they do if they remain single? though not all boys remain single, yet they will be very helpful in the family if they know some housework. anyhow they will not lose anything, but, on the contrary, they will gain something useful.
for what i said above, we can find some eamples of our fellow-students studying abroad. all young men do housework as girls do. someone would argue that we can employ servants. this is true. however, what shall we do if the servant leaves us and all things are left to ourselves? we just cannot leave our clothes as they are and let worms and ants eat them up. and what can we do it we go and study in a foreign country where servants are out our means to employ? we must work for ourselves. why not start to learn to do housework now or else it will be too late? everyone should learn to do housework. what do you think about my idea, boys and girls?

一段时间之后，我便可以背下整首诗，包括鹅，鹅，鹅，曲项向天歌，床前明月光，疑是地上霜等等。不过，那时我并不理解这些优美诗句的深刻含义。到了美国，我跟着妈妈学了一点中文，我们从中国的小学教材学起。大约到了三年级的时候，教我学中文的差事转到了爸爸的手上，从那时算起，我已经跟着爸爸学了十年的中文。我们几乎每天晚上都会抽出半个小时到一个小时来背生词，写等等。就连爸爸出差的时候我也在学习：他给我布置好作业，然后打电话回来检查我的功课，不给我任何一个偷懒的`机会。我在旅行的时候也要学习，我已经习惯在出门前将教科书放进背包里。爸爸教我中文的方法比较特殊，他有自己的一套理论：学一门语言要习听、说、读、写；与其在这四个方面同时下力，不如将它们各个击破。听和说是交流的基础，正常人都能很容易地掌握它们。
在家里我们说四川话，看中文电视节目。因此，对我而言，听和说不是一个太大的问题。不仅如此，当有新的中国电影上映时，爸爸妈妈经常带我去看，比如：张艺谋的《英雄》、《十面埋伏》、《千里走单骑》和李安的《卧虎藏龙》等等。撇开听和说的练习，爸爸将重点放在教我读和写上。因为他说：读和写是人类交流的高级方法，可以增大交流的广度和深度。爸爸一直让我做一本综合练习册中的练习。此外，他还找来很多短小的故事，让我在课余时间里阅读。在上初中和高中的时候，他给了我一本中文版的《读者文摘》。一开始，爸爸挑选一些容易的短文给我看，或者跳到笑话与幽默的版块。后来，由于我的中文进步了，便可以阅读长一些的文章了，这时我发现其中的一些文章优美动人。于是爸爸和我都成了这份精彩杂志的热切追捧者，几年后我们已经收集了整整一书架。我尤其喜欢像心灵鸡汤一类的文章，因为它们真正具有思想内涵；另外，许多神秘的和与动物有关的故事也很有趣。每读过一个故事之后，爸爸便会要求我提笔写下我的想法。
此外，中国的语文教材里也有许多关于写作方面的要求。比如，当读完一篇闻名世界的民间故事之后，我要为其写续篇；看过故事里的一幅插画之后，我也要写一篇短文；每次旅游回来，爸爸会要求我记述旅途中的见闻；在大部分周末我都必须写一篇作文。爸爸要求我使用刚刚学过的中文词句，甚至将一篇文章中最优美的语言运用到我的写作之中。其结果是我丰富了写作手段，提高了写作能力。这样的日积月累也成就了这本书。跟爸爸一起学习也缩短了我们之间的距离；许多事情我坦率地与爸爸一起讨论。我们是父子，也是朋友。经常会出现这样的情景：学习之后，学校里的一些事情忽然闪现在我的脑海里，我会立即告诉爸爸，于是就展开了讨论。有时候，妈妈也会加入讨论，或者在听见我们大声交谈的时候，她会推门进来问我们怎么了，爸爸和我就会摆出一本正经的样子，说：我们谈哲学都谈到21世纪去了。

记得那是三年一期的时候，我们才开始学习写作。我也不知道怎么回事，一写就头疼，有时提起笔来总觉得无话可写，有时眼前闪烁着事物的形象、颜色、动作，在笔下却形容不出来，每次老师在课堂上布置作文题，要在下课之前完成时，我总是望着作文题宾思苦想，却没有一勺合适的话可以写，快要下课了，我只好七拼八凑地以一些简单模糊的词勺轻轻带过算了，因此，我的`作文水平总是提不高。
但有一次却让我喜欢上了写作。那一次，老师给我们出了作文题是《我的文具盒》，要我们回家去写。我回到家中之后，马上就开始写作文。我一直看着文具盒，但怎么想也想不出个名堂来，反而越看越想睡觉。过了二十几分钟后，爸爸来检查我写的作文，看到我在睡觉，马上把我拍醒，我看了看时间，已经快七点钟了，我只好胡乱凑一两百字的作文。正在我准备收工的时候，姐姐回来了，她看了我的文章后，对我说:"谋谋，你这篇文章只有一两百字，并且内容也很空洞，不太丰富，俊你这种文章，也有脸交到老师那儿，你不觉得你自己很惭愧吗?"我不好意思地低下了头，说完，便和我一起修改这篇文章，过了半个多小时后，文章修改好了，我看着修改好的文章，心想:从今以后，我一定要多看书，争取把作文写得更好。从那以后，我每天中午回家都要看上许多文章，连睡觉之前，我也要看上一两篇。现在，我的作文水平有了很大的提高，这不，我的作文还获了市里的一等奖和全国的金奖呢。
这件事，使我明白了"世上无难事，只怕有心人"的真正含义.
