荔枝上头扁宽，下头尖小，像心形，也有像球形的。它还披着一身带刺的“战甲”，就像一只卷起来的剌猬一样。
如果你把荔枝樨在手里，它的刺会把你刺得嗷嗷叫，手感就像在捏一只海胆一般。要是把荔枝靠近鼻子嗅一嗅，闻一闻，一股淡淡的清香萦绕着你，像一把勾子伸进鼻孔把你的馋虫都勾出来，让人垂涎三尺。
你用手轻轻地把荔枝的“战甲”剥开，会看见一颗珍珠般涧向的果肉，一咬下去，果汁一个劲地往外射，酸甜可口、细腻爽口，简直是佳果圣品，天堂的美食，让人回味无穷、赞不绝口，吃了一个还想再吃一个。
荔枝皮可药用，果肉有丰富的维生素和蛋白质，可增强肌体抵抗力。但是吃多了，就会对身体有危害，我的外婆告诉我：“一个荔枝三把火，吃多了就会上火。”不仅如此，还会得医学上的“荔枝病”。荔枝虽然称不上果中之王，但它味美、清香，令人喜爱。

荔枝肉的味道很甜、很美。看那刚刚剥了壳的荔枝，还没吃就已鲜润得让你流口水了。咬上一口，更是觉得如品琼浆玉液，怎样一种清新爽洁的滋味啊，丰足的水分，流入口中，再缓缓地润过喉咙，一路润过你的胃。闭上眼，静静地品味那一抹清甜在口中融化、散开，伴着那美妙的遐想，滋润着你的心田，这恐怕是人世间的极品享受了。
荔枝肉的口感还很滑，含一小块果肉在口中，滑滑的，就像珍珠一般的细腻。吃上一颗真是口感十足，回味无穷。
