特别是学校刚修建不久的景色水池，水又清澈又干净，几条小锦鲤鱼在水里活蹦乱跳的，真可爱。水池小瀑布上面还有一个小型喷水器，一开动水就顺墙面潺潺而流，给人一种非常清新活泼的感觉。水池旁边还用了一些我一时也说不上来的植物装饰，水中还有几朵紫色的小莲花，小鱼儿一会在水上活动，一会又钻到莲花下躲藏人们的眼光。虽然这个水池没什么特别，可是它不但给学校增添春色和动感，而且又是一处好看的景色，我真喜欢这个喷水池。池正中，有许多水生植物。瞧，一条欢蹦乱跳的大鲤鱼翘着尾嗜，挺着胸脯，那一片片鱼鳞，在阳光下忽闪，忽闪，真像一颗晶莹的珍珠哩!水池旁有一个专门管理水池的管理处，以前管理处旁还有一些关于水池的的书买呢，不可惜现在已经搬走了。
?水池旁有一圈专门来装饰水池的鲜花，每天。学生们迎着朝阳到学校，一进大门就能看到这个美丽的这个水池，可见这水池挺受学生们的欢迎，刚建好的时候学生一到学校都会上来参观，即使过了很久，还有学生来参观景色水池。其实他们都是来看那些游动着的生命——鲤鱼的。可是自从鲤鱼后，就没学生过来看了，其实我也很难过，好端端的小生命一个个就没了。
哦，我想起来了，水池旁边还有两个麒麟头，在它们的嘴里会喷出小水柱，我多么希望快快在水里增加几条有活力的生命啊!这样学校的水池才更有趣，也更给校园增添风光，这样的喷水池也有它无比神奇的色彩哦!

艳丽的灯光好似刀刃，割了情侣之间恩爱的情，夜晚的繁华没了，带来的是冷峻、孤独、离落，且弥漫着无可左右的命运感。正如作家保罗·理查德所描述：“你是不见踪影的`观察者，在重重阴影之中，隐藏着一双秘密的眼睛。”
餐馆里有并肩靠着的情侣，带帽的男士和年老的服务员。单身男士带着帽，喝着咖啡，是城市中高级知识分子，他有着无人超越的才能，是一位美国记者，才从亚洲采访各国回到美国，当时的亚洲正处于战乱，中国和日本打仗，俄罗斯和德国打仗，很多国家都在侵越和反抗侵越，他也是爱莫能助，他只有喝粥咖啡，愁苦的叹气，忧虑的沉思。然而那对并肩坐着的情侣却丝毫没有交流的现象，好似他们隔了一层沙，变沉默和冷淡。男的抽着香烟，坐在高脚椅上，像一尊活菩萨，傻坐着，有着莫泊桑小说悲剧飞眼神，陷入沉思了。女的画了当时美国最时髦的装，穿着妖艳的红裙子，手里也和男士一眼夹着香烟，是典型的富人模样。年轻的时候他们有着轰轰烈烈的爱情，带着美好梦想来到大城市里闯荡。那时候世界只有少部分的战乱，美国正处于经济发展的阶段。随着时代的进步，国家的强大，各国正是虎视眈眈，担忧着战争，担忧着未来，也陷入沉思。整个画面中唯一稍具动势的是餐厅的服务员，然而他虽俯下身，给人感觉却并非忙于活计，而是将眼神放向空无一人处。这充分表达的是美国人被限制和囚禁。当时霍普创作了群像，但群像里却众人皆孤独。每一个人物身上都带着滞重感，阴郁、冷漠、孤独、惯于承受。使得人们只能百无聊赖、了无生气地往下活，不再求告，也懂得了认命，像再无二心的归顺囚徒，如一息尚存的人体标本，茫然无依静候任何一种命运的降临，无可作为，无人搭救。
霍普时代是画家的天下，画家以军临天下的气势，来凸显自己画的风格和色彩。但是霍普走的是古老的作画风格，以现实主义和色彩形象主义为主题，张扬个性，表明现实社会，也是他走向成功重要因素之一。
这幅画正是日本袭击珍珠港事件过后所画，美国正式参加第二次世界大战，战争的来临也是图中人之间所担心的，使得城市人民孤独，寂寞，忧虑，害怕。作者充分利用现实来描述当时人们心里的情绪和态度，侧面反对战争渴望和平的理想追求。
在画里每个人都心怀私事，在现实生活中也如此，部分人都在为利益和权势奋斗，冷漠了家人和朋友，淡了感情，互相没有言语。就像画里一样，把每个人都囚禁在餐馆，就像霍普时代一样。
