“俭以养德”是诸葛亮的一句名言。勤俭节约不仅能积累财富，还能培养艰苦创业的精神和奋发向上的品质。世界上任何一个民族的崛起和国家的昌盛，无不经过长期的艰苦奋斗。勤俭节约，艰苦奋斗这一传统，也是中华民族的“传家宝”，今天，我们提倡理性的适度消费和低碳的生活习惯，“传家宝”更不能丢。
2008年6月1日，一碗饭，一碗汤，这就是在甘肃地震灾区时的午餐。用餐的`帐篷，是战士们的食堂，搭建在甘肃地震灾区一个偏僻的高海拔的小山村里。战士们的午餐，还是相对丰盛的，但是，只吃了一碗米饭，盛了一碗菜汤。看到这个电视画面，许多人的眼眶湿润了，崇敬之情油然而生。
毛泽东主席曾经深刻地指出：“要使我国富强起来，需要几十年艰苦奋斗的时间。”党的十一届三中全会以后，邓小平总设计师告诫全党：“艰苦奋斗是我们的传统，艰苦朴素的教育今后要抓紧，一直要抓六十至七十年。我们的国家越发展，越要抓艰苦创业。提倡艰苦创业精神，也有助于克服现象。”在西柏坡学习考察时，曾经引用明朝薛瑄的话告诫大家：“节俭朴素，人之美德，奢侈华丽，人之大恶。”
再看看我们如今，走进学校饭堂，食物是相当丰盛的，有鸡腿，猪排，大排。和吃的比起来，我们都比他吃的好，但我们有些人吃了一口就倒掉了，多浪费呀!难道他们不知道“谁知盘中餐，粒粒皆辛苦吗?”
现在每个孩子都是爸爸妈妈的掌上明珠，饭来张口，衣来伸手，爸爸妈妈烧的菜有些人都不吃，只能倒掉，所以我们每个人都要行动起来，勤俭节约，不要浪费粮食，浪费最可耻的。同学们，我们要向学习，不要浪费粮食。
司马光曾经说过：“由俭入奢易，由奢入俭难。”这是古人给我们敲响的警钟，所以我们要勤俭节约，那些农民在烈日炎炎的阳光下干活，多么辛苦啊!他们披星戴月，任劳任怨，可换来的却是我们的浪费，全体人民应该保持“艰苦奋斗，勤俭节约”的作风。
