秋姑娘回家了，冬哥哥紧接着来上班了。
一天，小雪兔高兴地跑出去找她最要好的朋友青蛙玩。她用手敲了敲门，可是，没有人开门。这时，青蛙的邻居山羊阿姨对小雪兔说：“小雪免，你别敲了，你的朋友青蛙冬眠了!”
小雪兔好奇的问：“什么是冬眠呀?”
山羊阿姨说：“冬眠就是躺在床上，睡上一整个冬天，到春天才醒来。”小雪兔说：“哇!原来冬眠这么好呀!我也要去冬眠。”
于是，小雪兔回到了家，盖上被子，就开始睡觉了。可是，小雪兔的肚子里发出了“咕噜咕噜”的声音。小雪兔想：冬天太长，我会很饿的，我得去街上买一些东西来填饱我的肚子。
于是，小雪兔匆匆忙忙地跑到街上买了好多吃的东西回到家里吃了起来。不一会儿，她又想起青蛙冬眠也会饿肚子。于是，小雪兔又跑到街上给朋友们买了他们最爱吃的食物送给它们。她先跑到青蛙朋友的家里，把青蛙的食物挂在青蛙家的屋檐下。她又跑到小刺猬的家里，把小刺猬喜欢吃的东西放在了小刺猬的家门口。送完了小刺猬喜欢吃的东西，又送小松鼠的……就这样，小雪兔跑东跑西的，忙活了好一阵子。
正在她准备冬眠的时候，天又下雪了，小雪兔可喜欢下雪了。她在雪地上玩堆雪人，小雪兔一会儿就堆了很多的雪人。她说：“这个是小狗，那个是小猫，最后一个是青蛙!”她还邀请来了许多好朋友，在雪地上跳啊，唱啊，跑啊，闹啊，别提有多开心了。
嗨，这时的小雪兔早把冬眠的事给忘了。

在这么多的小伙伴中，小猴顶顶瞧不起的就是小刺猬了。瞧他那丑样儿：满身插着大针，又尖又小的脑袋，老是缩在肚子下面，一副胆小怕事的样子。
有一天，小伙伴们在玩捉迷藏，小刺猬也想参加，小猴不高兴了："去去去，你凑什么热闹?"小鹿和小松鼠都为小刺猬求情道："让小刺猬来吧，小猴!""哼，让他来，他能干什么?呆头笨脑的。"小猴叽咕道。这话太不公平了!小白兔跳出来打抱不平："小刺猬并不笨，每天夜里他都能捉几只老鼠。""捉老鼠有什么了不起?"小猴提高了嗓门窗道，"他能像我跑得那样快吗?能像我一样爬上这棵树吗?"大伙儿不吭声了。
捉迷藏开始了。小白兔撒腿往草丛里跑，雪白的身子被长长的草遮住了。忽然，小白兔惊惶地尖叫起来"蛇!蛇!"小猴大喊一声"快跑!"他第一个转身就跑。小白兔、小松鼠和小鹿跟在后边。蛇拉直了身体，拼命朝前追。经过小刺猬跟前，小刺猬一下子咬住了蛇的尾巴，然后把头缩进肚子底下。蛇把头抬得高高的，凶狠地摇了摇，想咬小刺猬。小刺猬一点儿也不害怕，还是紧紧地咬住蛇尾巴不放，蛇盘成一团，想绞小刺猬。小刺猬鼓足劲，弓起背，全身的尖刺都竖起来。蛇的身上被刺了无数个小洞，蛇挣扎几下，最后一动也不动了。
小伙伴们回来后看到小刺猬把毒蛇给刺了，大伙都说："多亏你救了我们!""小刺猬真了不起!"
小猴红着脸，低着头说："小刺猬，你勇敢，我以前小看你了，请原谅我吧!"

一早开门，小猪巴里的眼睛一亮，说：“咦(yí，树墩(dūn上有一顶红帽子，我早就想要一顶红帽子了。可这红帽子是谁的呢?”这时，小熊巴叽也走过来了。
小猪说：“你看，一顶红帽子，不知是谁放在树墩上的。”
小熊看了看说：“这顶帽子真好看，可惜我戴太小了。你戴戴看。”小猪把红帽子往头上一戴，啊哈，不大也不小，真合适。小猪说：“我太喜欢这顶红帽子了，可不是我的，不知是谁放在这儿的`。”
“这样吧，你把帽子放在这儿，假如一直没有人来拿，这顶帽子就归你啦。”小熊说。
“嗯(?ɡ，我也同意这个办法。可是你说的‘一直’是多少时间呢?”
“嗯，大概是今天，明天，后天吧，三天一过，没人来拿，帽子就归你了。”
“好吧，就这么办吧。”小猪说。
第一天，小猪就在树墩旁玩。忽然，呼———一阵风把帽子吹到地上去了，小猪连忙把帽子捡起来。呀，红帽子上全是灰，小猪拿了把刷子，刷刷刷，轻轻地把帽子上的灰刷掉了。小猪去找来一根树枝，把帽子压住，不让它再被风吹走。第二天，小熊和豪猪来找小猪玩。瞧，小熊戴了顶黄帽子，豪猪戴了顶蓝帽子。他们说： “小猪，你把红帽子戴上，我们来拍张照片，好吗?”小猪起先摇摇头，后来一想，要是帽子是别人的，他就没有机会戴红帽子拍照了。“好吧。”小猪说着戴上红帽子。喀嚓，喀嚓，三个好朋友，戴着三顶不同颜色的帽子，拍了好几张不同颜色的照片。第三天，天蒙蒙亮的时候，就淅沥(xī lì淅沥地下起了小雨。小猪一骨碌从床上爬起来，冲出门去给红帽子撑了一把伞。红帽子淋了可不行。这天，小猪趴在窗台上，眼睛一眨(zhǎ不眨地盯着伞下那顶红帽子。他高兴地说：“啊哈，今天一过，红帽子没有人来拿，就是我的了!”
傍晚，小猪正在吃饭，丁零零……邮递员送来了一封信，上面写着：猪宝贝，外婆三天前让乌龟大叔送去的红帽子收到了吗?他说，那天你家关着门，他就把红帽子放在树墩上了。“啊，这么说，红帽子是我的了，真是我的了。”小猪跑出门去，把红帽子戴在头上，撑着雨伞在雨中转了三圈。他马上打电话给小熊和豪猪，说： “你们想不到吧，这顶红帽子是外婆送给我的!”他的朋友听了，都为小猪高兴了一阵。

But Peter McGuire"s place in Labor Day history has not gone unchallenged. Many believe that Matthew Maguire， a machinist， not Peter McGuire， founded the holiday. Recent research seems to support the contention that Matthew Maguire， later the secretary of Local 344 of the International Association of Machinists in Paterson， N.J， proposed the holiday in 1882 while serving as secretary of the Central Labor Union in New York. What is clear is that the Central Labor Union adopted a Labor Day proposal and appointed a committee to plan a demonstration and picnic.
