我只听得老大娘走上前说：[官人呀。我的三个儿子都被你们抓到邺城防守去了。一个儿子捎信回来。另两个儿子最近已作战了。可怜呀。我们这些幸存的有人还苟且活着。可是我那去的儿子已长久地完结了。我家里再没有别的男人了。只有一个在吃奶的孙子。因为有孙子在。孩子的母亲还没有离这个家而去。可是她进门出门连一件衣服也没有呀。官人。我家确实没有当兵的人了。实在不行就让我去吧。我这个老太婆虽然体力衰弱。还可以在后方做点打杂的事。请让我今晚就同你回营吧。赶快应征到河阳去服役。还能够给你们准备一顿早饭呢。
夜深了。人们说话的声音已经消失。然而在一片沉寂中。我似乎听到有人在隐隐约约地哭。天亮了。我要登程赶前面的路。就在准备同屋子的主人辞行时。却发现老大娘果然被抓走了。于是我只好与孤孤单单的老大爷挥手告别
