鼎湖湾风景区，属国家2A级旅游区（点），位于灵宝市西阎乡文东村北 600米处，北濒黄河，东西长约3600米，南北宽约1800米，总面积约1万亩。原为大面积荷塘， 1960年前后，因三门峡大坝拦洪致使荷塘被毁。在此后的十多年间，地下泉涌，土肥水丰，草木丛生，芦兰疯长，蛙鸣鱼跃，鸟语花香，形成了鱼网环绕、苇路纵横、荷香婷婷、蒹葭苍苍的梦中绿园。
如今，万亩湖面上，千万只燕子飞来绕去，和苇中的白鹭、天鹅、鱼鹰、野鸭等各种水鸟组成了珍禽集体舞，而水上芦苇、马兰、荷花等绿色植被在黄河风的吹拂下，波浪起伏，水、草、鸟布景天然，形、声、色赏心悦目，游人荡舟其间，完全会被满目苍翠中充盈的灵光宝气、紫气祥云所陶醉。
