人的一生，注定会有许多作品，但什么样的作品才算最好？
我寻觅着，偶然的一天，爷爷给了我答案。
那一个炎热的'假期，我去到爷爷家，一进门，就看见他忙碌的样子。他在干什么呢？我忍不住地问道：“爷爷，你在干嘛？难道是在搞欢迎仪式吗？”爷爷看也没看我一眼：“小鬼，没时间陪你玩。”我一脸疑惑，爷爷平时可不是这样的，今天在忙啥呢？我的小小好奇心上来了，屁颠屁颠地跟着爷爷，脚步不知不觉来到了后院，远远地瞧见爷爷四处翻找。我走上前去，正好爷爷似乎找到了什么，翻过脸来对我说：“小鬼，想不想和我一起完成一件作品？”我不禁点了点头，爷爷告诉我他想做一件木人，我从小就听说过木人，一直没能一睹真容。没想到爷爷竟会做，我激动地对爷爷说：“怎么，您会？”爷爷一句未说，就把我带回了屋内。
紧接着，我们就开始了，爷爷说木人首先是木，于是他教我如何做一个底板，他给我一把刻刀要我先在一块人形木头上刻出木人的表情，我兴致勃勃地开始了，一开始我刻得很认真，我先刻好了眼，却发现有些不匀称，我急了，忙问爷爷该如何是好，爷爷转过头来：“小鬼，叫你慢些了，你不听。”说着，拿起手中刀，修好了它。我急冲冲抢回来继续做。
可是这鼻子可难倒了我，我当先一刀落下一痕，难后缓缓地用刀一斜一纵，可出乎我意料的是它歪了，我又急了，回到爷爷面前请教，可爷爷不理我，说，“怎么又来，我不是已经告诉过你了吗？慢一些，你不听，自己琢磨去。”我回到座位上，想了许久，竟有了一个主意。我也在另一边像我之前那样刻一次。可这一次我深知：一旦错了就永远救不回来了，我想起来爷爷的话，精雕细刻，终于成了。有了这些经验，我又把其它的也一一刻好。
然后又到爷爷面前问下一步，爷爷拿出几件“小衣服”让我自己给木人儿穿上，我照做了。在那之后，爷爷把发髻也刻好，大功告成。可整体看起来不是很完美。我心中有一丝不快。
爷爷似乎看出了我的心思，笑着看着我：“没关系，真正的‘最好’不是外表上看起来的，而是你有没有认真去做！”我不解地看着爷爷，他继续说，“只要你认真去做了，就是最好的作品！”
认真了，就是最好。这个世界每天都在产生作品，但哪一件才是最好，精益求精就是做到了极致！
