从前有个小孩和爸爸妈妈住在一起。一个夏天的`早上，爸爸妈妈出门去种田了，小孩一个人在家里。他想吃莲子，于是就来到了附近的荷花池。
池塘里长满了绿绿的荷叶，粉粉的荷花。他看见了一条没人的船，跳上去站在船上，拿起一根长长的棒，用力把船撑到池塘中间。他心里想：哈哈！这样就不会被别人看见了，不怕别人说我嘴馋。他用左手拿着根棒，右手采莲蓬，采了好多莲蓬放在船上。
但是他在撑船的时候，浮萍被挤开了，路过池塘的人一眼就看见了浮萍被船挤开的痕迹，猜到有人撑船进了池塘中间。

他来到小河边，看到远远的水面上冒出很多诱人的莲蓬，他灵机一动，决定去偷偷地采一些回来。正巧，河边停着一条很小的小船，他又跑去找根长长的竹竿当做船桨。他撑着小船来到河中央，采了很多放在船上，就划着小船回来了。
他很开心！
他以为没有人会知道他偷采过莲蓬。殊不知，船滑过去以后，河面的浮萍早就留下了一道船滑过的长长的痕迹……
