《第三种可能》这本书是由许多个小故事组成的，各个故事可以说都相当精彩。故事有描写手的，有描写心理变态的，有描写充满仇恨的，也有描写罪犯的等等。希区柯克对人类的心理世界有着深刻的体悟，他对人性的看法是相当冷静的，甚至可以说是十分冷酷的，他毫不留情地指出了现代社会的荒谬。希区柯克也认为人是非常脆弱的，他们经不起诱惑，人们的正派和善良的品质可能是天赋的.，但常常经受不住严格的考验。于是，我们在希区柯克的作品中，看到一个个受到诱惑的灵魂，逐步地脱去人性的外衣，滑向罪恶的深渊，越陷越深，难以自拔，最终是害人害己。通过艺术创作，希区柯克有了许多机会探索人类行为中那些奇怪的侧面，他的作品之所以有很好的效果，多数是由于他总是将不同寻常的事件放在平常的生活场景之中，从而形成鲜明的对比。这一点在《第三种可能》这本书中我们能够深刻地领悟到。

There are more than one angle to consider this phenomenon. On one hand, it is pleasantly acknowledged that smartphones shorten the distance between families and friends.
