以曾子良好的品德和慈母对儿子的了解、信任而论，“曾参了人”的说法在曾子的母亲面前是没有市场的。然而，即使是一些不确实的说法，如果说的人很多，也会动摇一个慈母对自己贤德的儿子的信任。由此能够看出，缺乏事实根据的流言是可怕的。
