"大家听我说吧，"大拇指先发制人，抢着说，"主人一天到晚都得做家务，她累，我更累。什么擦桌子啦，扫地，我出的力气都是最大的。我必须要握紧、捏住工具，这也是你们有目共睹的呀！"
在它一旁的食指听了，气愤得差点跳起来："什么？你出的力气最大？未见得，若不是我每次冒着生命危险去试探，你哪有现在的风光劲儿？再说，攀爬、抓捕，我都是主力啊！所以我的功劳最大！"
"可……"大拇指一听急了，但话还没说完，就被中指打断了话。
"NoNoNo！""论功大非我莫属。每次，主人要拿笔、提袋子、公文包，我都十分踊跃，从来不偷懒，怎样，你们没话说了吧？"中指自信地哼哼道。
无名指见大家冷落了它，就蹬着床板嚷着："我才不听你们那些胡言乱语呢！我要不配合你们，干重活的时候，你们行吗？恐怕早就一不留神掉地上摔坏喽！"
大家又把目光转向小指。
只见它沉思了一下，平心静气地说："我觉得，这次争论毫无意义可言。大家四分五裂，哪能做成什么呢？只有我们上下齐心，团结一致，忠于主人，才能把事情做得更好。"
大家听了，觉得有道理，都心服口服，各自休息去了……
