节能减排指的是减少能源浪费和降低废气排放。我国“十一五”规划纲要提出，“十一五”期间单位国内生产总值能耗降低20%左右、主要污染物排放总量减少10%。这是贯彻落实科学发展观、构建社会主义和谐社会的重大举措;是建设资源节约型、环境友好型社会的必然选择;是推进经济结构调整，转变增长方式的必由之路;是维护中华民族长远利益的必然要求。
现在地球环境恶化，(如在08年的春节中国南方出现了罕见的大风雪就是最好的证明。二氧化碳等产生的“温室效应”使地球变暖，全球性气候异常，海平面上升，自然灾害增多;随着二氧化硫排放量增加而形成的酸雨使生态遭到破坏，农业减产;氯氟烃类化合物的排放使大气臭氧层遭到破坏;粉尘的大量排放则严重威胁人类健康。
节能减排需要全人类的努力。我们中国开始行动起来了：所有超市都实行统一环保袋;各个城市都用节能灯;使用水循环系统;加大对太阳能等环保资源的运用等。
我们中学生还可以从身边的小事做起。节约用电：随手关灯;天不太冷时，在家洗手尽量不开热水笼头;天气不太热或太冷时，不要用空调;用节能灯去代替白炽灯;不要用遥控器关闭电器，要直接关闭开关。节约用水：上卫生间后，通常用去冲水马桶里的满满一大箱子水，现在利用一个大可乐饮料瓶，就解决问题了，把它装满了水后放入冲水马桶的水箱里，这样就可以减少水箱的容量。假如平均每天要冲20多次马桶，这样就能节约20多瓶自来水，一年下来，那不就节约好多吨水了吗?一吨自来水中还包括节约了许多电。如果每一个家庭都能做到，那要节约多少水和电啊!
有次我在路上发现地上有张纸和被人丢掉的纸盒，当时我准备随手丢入垃圾箱，但是一想：如果丢入垃圾箱，进了垃圾场后又没有人专门给垃圾分类，结果是，一张本来可以再生的纸，却被永远地当做垃圾填埋入地下，不仅污染环境，而且浪费。我知道，许多白纸是用大树的树浆做成的。于是我把废纸和纸盒捡回了家，从那以后我再遇到就将它们捡回家，收集在一起，集多后卖给收废品的。既有利于环保，又为我增加了经济收入。
我们随手的一件小事，就可以为环境保护做出一点贡献，又能给自己带来利益，何乐而不为呢?为了我们能生活在一个美好，舒适的国度里，让我们一起加入环保的队列里去吧!

今天，我正尽职的巡视着森林，突然我发现一颗树在剧烈摇晃，似乎要倒下去了。我一惊，“怎么，这颗树生病了吗?病得这么厉害，一定是我往日失职，没有发现蛀虫。”
我以最快的速度飞了下去，却发现一个人正在飞舞着斧头，正在卖力的砍树呢!
“他为什么砍树呢?难道他不知道树木对人的重要性吗?”
我落到他的肩膀上，吃惊的看着他的举动，他的行为让我太异外了。
“难道是这颗树没用了?”我仔细的审视着眼前这颗树，凭我的工作，我可以肯定，这是一颗生体健康的树，每天至少能生产50公斤氧气，转化大量太阳能，为三种以上的鸟儿提供筑巢的场所;从笔直的树干上看，它应该成为有用之材，但至少还应该生长三百年以上。
“这样的树怎么能砍呢?”我自言自语道。
突然间我的注意到砍树人精长的头，“这不开窍的木头脑袋，一定是有虫了。要不怎么干这么蠢的事呢?”我想。“有虫，我就要担负起医生的责任，”我看准目标，狠狠的、狠狠的啄了下去。
